Race Train Arrangements Particulars are advertised in this issue as to train arrangements for next Saturday’s races at Paeroa. Te Awamutu National Savings There was a decided increase in the National Savings accounts deposited at Te Awamutu last week, the sum being £214 16s. The weekly quota is £483. Garden of Remembrance The unveiling of the memorial to the late Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage and the opening of the Garden of Remembrance at Bastion Point have been arranged for next Sunday at 3 p.m. Boy Scouts Camp Under Scoutmaster D. W. Rogers, patrols from the Te Awamutu Boy Scouts have spent the last two weekends at the camp ground on Frontier Road, where an enjoyable time was spent fishing and clearing the land. A working bee has been arranged for April 3 and more helpers are wanted.

Production of Pigs ( Commenting on the pig industry, Mr W. A. Phillips, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association, Limited, said it was estimated that 150,000 fewer pigs would be produced this season than last. This reduction, in view of the increased demand, had created a unique situation in the industry. Present indications were that no pigs would be exported to Britain this year and that there would be difficulty in maintaining present commitments to satisfy the requirements of the armed forces and the local market. In fact, a shortage was already envisaged.
