BOYCE CUP TO MATAMATA Matamata juniors won the Boyce Cup on Saturday after a. lapse, of. seven years by defeating Cambridge : juniors at Cambridge .by the ,convincing score of 17 points to 3. The I Mataniafa forwards dominated play for most of. the game, and it . was really their' relentless, hard. tackling of the Cambridge backs in the first. 2.0 minutes which paved the way for victory. The Cambridge backs easily showed they were a first-class, division, but as the .game progressed, they.; passed more wildly and towards the' end wilted under the terrific pressure : of the visiting eight. At half-time the score was 3—3/ but right from the resumption the Matamata pack jumped to their work and confined play to the blue quarters for most of the half.
