TOWN HALL DANCES

Sir, —I must ask your pardon for delaying this reply to your correspondent, Daniel Boone. Being a lone woman, I felt a little diffident as to my ability to take up the cudgels on behalf of the young people that attend the dances in Te Awamutu, but after due consideration I have come to the conclusion that t,he charges levelled at these people and the criticism of them as made by your correspondent, warrants some refutation. Your correspondent has, if I may say so, adopted the wrong nom de plume. He should have signed himself wowser, this being more in line -with the views expressed by him. It is a peculiar fact that those of the type of Daniel Doone always prate of the word “Democracy” and enlist the name of the soldier to gain sympathetic consideration of the argument submitted by them. While agreeing with Daniel Boone re the condition of the Hall, etc., I make bold, sir, to challenge your correspondent to attend the next dance and verbally state his objections to spurs, shirts and pants. This would be disclosing his true identity, which so far he has hidden under the nom de plume, Daniel Boone.—l am, etc., ZOE CAMPBELL.
