CAMBRIDGE SALE Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited have to report holding their usual tri-weekly sale at Cambridge on Monday, when there was a small yarding of sheep and pigs and a medium yarding of all classes of cattle. Prices were on a par with recent sales. We quote:— Light fat bullocks to £lO 10s, light prime fat heifers to £8 15s, heavy Shorthorn cows £7 to £7 12s 6d, heavy Jersey cows £5 to £5 7s 6d, heavy boners £4 to £4 12s, medium boners £3 to £3 12s 6d, light boners £1 to £1 10s, bulls £3 to £3 15s, medium quality springing heifers to £7 10s, dairy cows £6 5s to £6 15s, cows in milk to £B. Sheep.—Good fat wethers 335, light ditto 28s. Pigs.—Heavy stores to £1 15s, light ditto to £1 Is. ‘ll. ■ FRANKTON SALE Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report on their usual weekly sale held at Frankton on Tuesday, 1942, as under:—• Sheep.—There was a small yarding of fat sheep and this no doubt was the cause of the slight rise in prices. We quote:— Prime heavy fat wethers to 36s 9d, medium fat wethers 29s 6d to 31s 9d, lighter ditto 27s 3d to 28s 6d, prime heavy fat lambs 24s 6d to 28s 6d, medium fat lambs £1 0s 3d to 21s 6d, lighter ditto 18s 9d to 19s 6d. Cattle. —A small yarding of beef came forward and in consequence prices showed a sharp rise. Boners were yarded in smaller numbers than usual. There were no stores. We quote:— Medium fat bullocks £lO 10s to £ll ss, mixed bred fat steers £9 to £9 18s, prime fat heifers (light) £8 10s to £9 2s 6d, heavy boners £4 to £4 Ils, medium boners £3 to £3 Bs, lighter ditto 20s to 30s, light potter bulls 35s to £2 10s. Pigs.—A light entry of fat and a medium yarding of store pigs were penned. Competition for fat pigs was keen and values remained firm on last week’s quotations. The enquiry for store pigs was good and late rates were maintained. We quote:— Heavy baconers £4 4s to £4 9s, light to medium £3 9s to £3 13s, heavy porkers £2 18s to £3 6s, medium ditto £2 10s to £2 17s, light porkers £2 2s to £2 9s, large stores 32s to 375, medium ditto 23s to 30s, slips 18s to £1 2s, other slips 12s to 16s, sows te farrow £4 to £5.

New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report as follows on their Frankton sale:— A medium yarding of fat bullocks met with spirited competition and prices advanced on last week’s sale. Prime cow and heifer beef met with a good enquiry, while a smaller yarding of boner cows sold at advanced rates. Vealers also met with a good demand. Prices were as follows: Medium prime fat bullocks £lO 5s to £ll 7s 6d, prime fat bullocks £9 10s to £lO 2s 6d, fat Polled Angus cows £7 10s to £8 ss, fat Shorthorn cows £6 12s 6d to £7 ss, fat Jersey cows £5 to £5 18s, boner cows £2 15s to £4 15s, potter bulls £1 10s to £2 15s, vealers £1 5s to £2 12s 6d. A medium yarding of fat and store sheep came forward. There was keen competition and values were slightly in advance on last week’s sale. We quote:— Prime fat wethers 35s to 37s 3d, medium fat wethers 30s to 345, light fat wethers 28s to 30s, maiden fat ewes 24s to 265, aged fat ewes 20s to 235, fat lambs 20s to 245, sound mouth ewes in lamb 12s to 18s 9d, inferior store lambs 5s to 9s. HORA HORA HERD SOLD New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report on holding of a dispersal sale of Mr H. Trowell’s Jersey dairy herd at Hora Hora. The herd of 48 cows met strong competition to £l7 10s, nearly every cow bringing double figures and averaging over all, just on £l2 10s; eleven 2-year Jersey heifers sold brought up to £ll, while breeding sows sold from £4 15s to £5 ss.
