‘ Importers in New Zealand have been heartened by the way in which Great Britain has been able to continue her exports to the Dominion, in spite of her ‘all-in’ war effort,” said the President, Mr Gainor Jackson, at the annual meeting of the Bureau of Importers. “ New Zealand importers are anxious to co-operate in every way possible with the United Kingdom in the matter of bringing the present war to a successful conclusion, even though this means a serious diminution in the supply of consumer goods available from the Mother Country,” he added. “It bears testimony to the will and determination of the British people that after two and a half years of intensive war they are able to continue the manufacture of goods for export to this country.”
