SPORTS AND DANCE HELD SUCCESSFUL GATHERINGS A most successful sports meeting was held last Saturday, when Ngutu■nui held its meeting on Mr Robert Ormsby’s property. Numbers of competitors arrived fiom many districts, and, with fine weather prevailing, the day was a huge success. Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., gave a very amusing address, and then called upon each winner of the day’s events to come forward and accept a handsome gift. Green and P. Tane 1, T. Simmons and H. Charlstone 2, C. Orjn and W. Pittans 3. The ladies who conducted the refreshment booth were Mesdames Ed. Beet, J. Robinson, G. West, S. Ormsby, Ross, R. Ormsby, R. Johnson, and Ashby and Misses D. West and E. Walters. The gate-keepers were Messrs R. Kruth and C. Hodgson. The secretaries were Messrs J. R McGruther and T. Tamaki and Mrs J. R. McGruther, with Mr C. Ross as assistant secretary. DANCE IN EVENING An after-sports dance was held in the Hall in the evening, and a large number of dancers and others attended the function. The music was supplied by Mr and Mrs V. Hopping’s Orchestra, and was much enjoyed by all. During the evening Mr Tom Tamaki announced the winners of the competitions, which were as follows— Stockings: Mrs Ashley. Cake: Mrs R. Fowler. Goose: Mr R. Williams. Cake: Mr John Boggiss. Gloves: Mrs J. De Thierry. Peas in a Bottle: R. Robinson 1, D. McLean 2, E. McKay 3.
