THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

A SATISFACTORY YEAR The Mayor (Mr L. G. Armstrong) as chairman of the Te Awamutu Library Committee, advised the local Borough Council at its fortnightly meeting on Monday evening, that the library year had closed and he reviewed a statement of accounts. With a contingent liability outstanding, the year had closed with a credit of £6l Is 2d in the library account. The Council subsidy was £2OO a year, for which the citizens had at their disposal a free library service. This was a distinct improvement on the old copditions of a subscribing library. There were about 750 subscribers and the number was, he added, steadily increasing. The statement was formally approved by the Council.
