LIVE STOCK MARKET FRANKTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ ' Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report: - Sheep: At their weekly Frankton sale yesterday a larger yarding of fat sheep than last week came forward, the entry comprising chiefly wether mutton. Values, although quite good, were slightly lower than those ruling last sale. A small entry of ewe mutton realised improved prices, whilst fat lambs were slightly easier, with the quality only medium. An average yarding of store sheep, comprising principally of store lambs, which sold at improved values. Cattle: A large yarding of all classes of fat and store cattle, with values for ox beef and cow and heifer beef again firm. A consignment of medium prime Polled Angus bullocks from A. W. Playle, Tauwhare, realised from £ll to £ll 17s. A large yarding of fat calves also met steady competition, last week’s prices being maintained. A large entry of boner cattle, with values ahead of schedule rates. Pigs: A medium yarding of fat pigs. Competition for prime baconers and porkers was keen with prices showing an advance on last week’s rates. Top price for baconers was £4 Bs, this being the highest figure obtained for some considerable time. Stores and weaners met an improved demand, values being a shade firmer. We quote:— Sheep: Heavy fat wethers 30s to 325, medium 28s 3d to 29s 6d, light 25s 9d to 27s 6d, fat ewes 15s to 15s 6d, unfinished ewes 9s to 12s, fat lambs 22s 6d to 24s 9d, light 19s to 21s, store lambs 15s lOd to 16s 3d. Cattle: Medium prime bullocks £ll to £ll 17s, heavy fat cows £6 19s to £8 7s 6d, medium £5 2s 6d to £6 ss, light £4 5s to £5, heavy boner cows £3 15s to £4 4s, medium £3 to £3 12s, light £2 to £2 15s, cull cows 15S to 30s, potter bulls 15s to 20s, medium runners £3 to £3 12s, vealers £2 2s to £2 14s, small calves 8s to 20s. PUTARURU SALE LARGE YARDING Newton King Limited report a yarding of 250 head of cattle, 700 sheep

and 305 pigs at their monthly Putaruru sale held on Monday last. A solid sale resulted in practically a 100 per cent clearance in all sections. Prime fat bullocks sold to £l2 4s_, best fat Jersey cows selling from £5 14s to £6, lighter £5 to £5 10s, forward £4 to £4 12s, others £3 15s to £4 2s, store cows £2 10s to £3 7s 6d, small dairy heifers sold from £5 to £5 15s, with Jersey cows from £3 to £3 6s. In the sheep section 4-tooth, 6-tooth and 4-year ewes running with Southdown rams realised 235, with a line of 4-year and 5-year ewes bringing 19s Od, medium w.f. wether lambs sold to Ils 6d, small 7s 6d to 8s 4d. A capacity yarding of pigs resulted in a total clearance. Light baconers sold to £3 13s, others £3 9s to £3 12s. Best porkers sold to £2 12s 6d, others £2 8s to £2 Ils, lighter £2 to £2 6s. Large stores sold to 325, others 26s to 295, smaller stores 14s to 225, weaners 7s 6d to Ils 6d, choppers 20s to 325.
