GOOD IMPROVEMENT

FINANCES OF OTOROHANGA COUNTY RECORD ESTABLISHED The Treasurer (Mr S. J. Fortescue) reported to the monthly meeting of the Otorohanga County Council on Monday as follows: “ I submit a preliminary report of the general and riding accounts of the Otorohanga County Council for the year ended 31st March, 1942. The accounts are not quite complete because the total amount in the suspense account as it affects the ridings has not yet been allocated. In any case it will not materially affect the riding balances. “ You will note that in comparison with the last financial year all the ridings show an improved financial position with the exception of the Waipa riding. This riding shows a decrease of £ll9, accounted for by the Engineer’s estimate of £950 being exceeded by £134. “ From the following riding balances it will be noted that in comparison with the year ended March of last year the Wharepapa and Te Rau-a-Moa ridings have very materially improved their financial positions.
