At the annual meeting of the Red Cross Society, Te Awamutu Sub-Cen-tre, held last week, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the honorary auditor, Mr A. S. Wanklyn, for his services during the past year. ,

At the annual meeting -of the Red Cross Society, Te Awamutu Sub-Cen-tre, held last week, the treasurer’s report showed that £6B 15s 6d had been received in annual subscriptions; donations totalled £149 Ils 7d, depot receipt® £752 6s 4d, and card evenings £94 14s Bd, while £143 2s Id had been spent on wool and £206 3s 6d on materials for pyjamas, etc.

Costing 10,000 dollars, a four-ton mobile dental unit for emergency dental and facial surgery has been presented by the American Dental Ambulance Committee to the British American Ambulance Corps, and has been shipped to the Middle East for service with the Australian and New Zealand troops. Built to specifications supplied from Egypt, this ten-wheeled ambulance is a replica of one lost during the evacuation of Crete.

We don’t want to carry the Government on our backs any longer,” remarked a delegate to the annual meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union a few days ago, when the Accident Fund regulations were under discussion. Householders' meetings will be held throughout the district on Wednesday evening next, and chairmen and seretaries are cordially invited to send in or ring up reports for publication in the Courier.

The sixth and final Auckland wool appraisement for the season is to commence on 29th April, the fixture having been postponed to that’ date owing to the stores being congested and to give brokers the opportunity to prepare their catalogues. Approximately '20,000 bales will be available. This will bring the total offering for the season to over 100,600 bales, compared with 95,500 bales last season, and will constitute a record for the province. The season’s wool cheque, which last year established a record at £1,653,092, is expected to exceed £1,760,000.
