CADET TRAINING
HIGH SCHOOL BARRACKS NEXT WEEK’S FIXTURE The High-School Military Barracks will be ljeld;on Albert Park from the 16th to 20th February. Second-Lieutenant -P. D: Chapman, d.O. of the High School Cadets, will be assisted, by Messrs G: D. Warring and J. Elliott, of the High School staff, and Army instructors. Messrs Warring and Elliott will be in charge of the physical training and swiiinning. The following is the syllabus of instruction:— 9.10 ’: Physical training and N.C.O. classes. 9.30 9.35 ■: Interval. 9.35 Company parade. 10.5—10.15 : Interval. 10.15 : Squad drill. 10.35 10.40-;- Interval. 10.40—11.15': Small arms training’ —rifle and ; Thompson sub-machine gun. 11.15 12.15 : Swimming. 12.15 1.15 : Lunch interval. 1.15 1.30 : Company parade. 1.30 2.:. Physical training and N.C.O. classes. 2—2.10 : Interval. 2.10 3.25 ; Field craft. If the necessary equipment is available the following will be taken: Distance judging, indication of targets, fire orders, concealment, section, platoon and company in advance patrols, infiltration, defence, hand grenade, parts and throwing practice. Lewis machine gun: Explanation of parts and mechanism, demonstration of firing grenades. It will be noted that, as in previous years, the course is not unduly arduous, and the school authorities. are safeguarding the young troops in every possible way. Boys have been warned that hats affording ample protection from the sun, if and when it shines, are necessary equipment.
