Locke, Otorohanga, attracted interest, the 2-tooth ewes realising 26s 6d, the 4-tooth ewes 26s Id, the 6-tooth ewes 22s 6d, and the 4-year ewes 20s. SALE AT FRANKTON The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports on the live stock sale at Frankton yesterday as follows:

Sheep: An average yarding of fat sheep came forward. Prime wethers remained firm at late rates, whilst a good number of unfinished sheep were easier of value. Fat ewes receded on late quotations. We quote: Prime fat wethers 23s 6d to 25s 3d, fat wethers 22s 3d to 235, unfinished 19s to 21s 6d, fat ewes 9s to 12s, unfinished 6s 6d to 8s 6d, fat lambs 22s 6d to 24s 9d, lighter 20s 6d to 225, unfinished 17s 3d to 19s 6d.

Cattle: A medium yarding of fat cattle, with values for prime ox and heifer beef slightly firmer than last week’s sale. A consignment of medium prime Polled Angus bullocks from Mr Gus Bary, of Whatawhata, realised £ll 10s to £l2 10s. A large entry of boner cattle again maintained late rates. A medium entry of fat calves met steady bidding at unchanged prices. We quote: Medium prime bullocks £lllos to £l2 10s, light and unfinished £9 10s to £lO 7s, heavy fat cows £7 to £8 Ils, prime heifers £6 4s to £7 19s, medium fat cows £5 2s to £5 10s, lighter £4 5s to £5, heavy boner cows £3 to £4 2s, medium £2 Is to £2 19s, lighter £1 10s to £1 18s, vealers £1 12s to £2 14s, small calves 17s to £1 6s.

Pigs: A smaller than usual penning of fat pigs. Competition for prime baconers was spirited, and last week’s firm values were easily maintained. Unfinished pigs were not keenly sought, and reduced rates ruled for this class. The demand for store and weaner pigs was not so keen, with values correspondingly lower. We quote: Heavy prime baconers £3 18s to £4 3s, medium £3 12s to £3 17s, light £3 5s to £3 10s, heavy porkers £2 5s to £5, medium £2 8s to £2 12s, light £2 to £2 6s, small £1 10s to £1 15s, large stores 24s 6d to £1 13s, smaller 14s 6d to £1 Is 6d, slips 8s to 12s 6d, weaners 4s to 6s 6d.
