HOSPITAL FOR TE AWAMUTU

Sir, —Lest your readers should think from the letter of “G.S.C.” that the local branch of the Farmers’ Union is not in support of the proposal for the establishment of a public subsidiary hospital at Te Awamutu, I would like to point out that this Executive is very much in favour of such facility, so long as it does not put an increased hospital rate on the rural community. The arguments are all in favour of the project, and we would be very pleased to see a branch hospital at Te Awamutu. However, as representatives of the rural ratepayers, this Executive is opposed to any increase in rates. C. J. FLAY, Te Awamutu Branch Secretary.
