THE RED CROSS
THE PARAWERA BRANCH The Parawera Red Cross Branch held a bring and buy afternoon last Friday in the lovely garden at the residence of Mrs R. Godfree. Competitions were won by Mrs E. H. Houston, sponge cake; Mrs Maunder, article made from sugar bag; and Miss Betty Taylor, duchess set. A dainty afternoon tea was served. The proceeds of the afternoon amounted to £l5 ss, including a £4 donation from the Maori people. The next meeting to be held is on the first Saturday in April in the Parawera School. FRONTIER ROAD SUB-BRANCH Owing to petrol restrictions the ladies of Frontier Road have decided to form their own sub-branch of the Red Cross. A meeting was held at the residence of Mrs J. T. Young, and was very well attended. The following officers were elected: President: Mrs George Clarke. Secretary: Miss T. Wyllie. Treasurer: Mrs A. Gray. Wool Secretary: Mrs T. G. Martin. It was decided to hold meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each . month.
