SALE AT FRANKTON. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report on the Frankton Sale held yesterday as follows: An average yarding of ox beef came forward and also a medium yarding of prime cows and heifer beef. The market for ox beef opened at rates slightly below last weeks, but improved as the sale progressed. Cow and heifer beef was in keen request and prices throughout showed an advance on recent sales. Boner cows came forward in average'numbers and sold at recent rates. Vealers were in keen request and a medium entry sold at advanced rates. Cattle: Small medium fat steers sold on behalf of Mr C. C. Parry realised from £lO 12s 6d to £lO 17s 6d; heavy fat cows sold on behalf of the same vendor realised from £9 10s to £l2 12s (for a heavy Shorthorn cow), Medium fat steers £lO to £lO 17s 6d; heavy fat S.H. cows £lO to £l2 12s; medium fat cows £8 5s to £9 10s; medium fat heifers £6 10s to £8 10s; heavy boner cows £4 5s to £5 ss; medium boner cows £3 to £4; light boner cows £1 10s to £2 12s 6d; empty 2-year Jersey heifers £4 4s to £1 17s 6d; small yearling Jersey heifers £3 10s to £4 4s; medium vealers £2 10s to £3 ss; small vealers £1 5s to £2 2s 6d. Sheep: An average yarding of fat sheep came forward, mostly being shorn wethers. The sale commenced fairly well, but values declined towards the end of the sale. We quote: Medium Shorn fat hoggets 20s to 22s 6d; woolly fat hoggets 25s to. 295; prime woolly fat hoggets to 31s; shorn fat wethers 24s 6d to 25s 9d; shorn fat ewes 16s to 18s; woolly fat ewes to 20s. Pigs: There was a large yarding of fat and store pigs. The former sold at rates slightly above recent quotations while the stores were lower in values. Prices were as follows: Heavy baconers £3 14s to £4; lighter baconers £3 to £3 12s; heavy porkers £2 9s to £2 15s; medium porkers £1 18s to £2 ss; large stores £1 2s to £1 10s; medium stores 13s to £1; lighter sorts to 10s; choppers to £4 3s. SALE AT CAMBRIDGE. Messrs Dalgety and Company report having held their usual Cambridge sale on Monday, when a good yarding of fat and boner cattle came forward. There was also a good entry of good quality yearling Jersey heifers. Prices were well up to recent quotations. Prime fat P.A. cows and heifers on account of Mr T. P. Hunt sold from £8 15s to £lO 7s 6d, whilst nice quality, medium weight cows and heifers on account of Hicks Bros, sold from £8 10s to £10; quality yearling heifers on account of J. B. Nickle made £6 12s 6d and £6 14s; whilst a nice pen on account of Geo. Rye made £7. We quote:— Cattle: Prime fat P.A. cows £9 16s to £lO 7s 6d; fat heifers £8 15s to £9 10s; boners heavy £3 11s to £3 18s; medium £2 10s to £2 18s; lighter 21s to 30s; quality yearling Jersey heifers £6 10s to £7; others £5 to £5 15s Dairies: A good yarding of quality cattle came forward, but prices were slightly lower than recent sales. Bidding was slow but prices were maintained throughout. We quote:— Choice forward quality Jersey heifers £l2 10s to £l3; medium heifers £9 to £ll 10s; S.H. heifers £8 to £ll 10s; S.H. cows £l2 to £l3; springing Jersey cows £lO to £l2 15s. Pigs: A medium yarding of fat pigs came forward with a light yarding of stores and weaners. All classes sold at full late rates. We quote:—Medium baconers £3 10s to £3 12s; light porkers £2 to £2 6s; small porkers 32s to £2; large store 23s to 28s; medium ditto 18s to 235; small ditto 12s to 18s; slips 16s to 225; weaners 12s to 20s.
