TE AWAMUTU ASSOCIATION. SATURDAY’S GREAT EVENT. Considerable interest is being evinced locally in the Point-to-point Steeplechase meeting which the Light Horse Association is sponsoring in the interests of the patriotic funds. If the weather proves favourable next Saturday, a very enjoyable afternoon’s sport should result. The course has been laid out on Mr Gordon Walker’s farm at Parawera, six miles from Te Awamutu, on the Arapuni main road. The public will be able to obtain a good view of the races from end to end. In addition toh the local hunters a number of horses from Otorohanga are expected to compete, so that the various events should be keenly contested. The youngsters have been catered for with a pony steeplechase and those young riders who have been attending the hunts of the Te Awamutu and Otorohanga Associations are looking forward to this event. The catering arrangements are in the hands of a committee of ladies and light refreshments will be available on the grounds. Special buses will be leaving Te Awamutu at 11.30 a.m. and again at 12.20 p.m. to transport local patrons to Parawera.
