THE RED CROSS
SOCIAL EVENING. The fortnightly social gathering of members of the Te Awamutu branch of the Red Cross and their friends took place at the depot on Saturday evening, where there was a large attendance, proceedings being thoroughly enjoyed throughout. The bridge competition was won by Mrs Houston and the 500 by Mr Cole. Among the ladies present were: Mesdames C. G. Downes, Clark, Hammerton, Rainey, Rickit, Warburton, Attewell, Montefiore, Dowds, Watkins, Roberts, Cresswell, McArthur, Irwin, O’Brien, Ryan, Chapman (Auckland), Jeune, Warring, Woodward, Brown, Jourdain, Tolich, Mensforth, Hutchinson, Elliott, Thompson, Webber, W. McKenzie, Potts, Houston, Boryer, Blundell and Dawson and Sister Hayward.
