WOMEN’S DIVISION

SOUTH AUCKLAND EXECUTIVE. QUARTERLYSMEETING. The quarterly meeting of the South Auckland Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division, was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday last, when Mrs W. G. Neill presided over a good attendance of delegates from Huntly, Ngaruawahia and Te Mata, to Arohena and Ngaroma, as well as intervening districts. A motion of sympathy with Mrs C. J. Pierce and family, was passed, and the secretary was instructed to send a letter to this effect. Branches were asked to knit for the merchant service. Several branches are now trying to spin their own wool. Mrs Ryburn gave the housekeeping report, stating that 18 positions had been filled by the Division’s own housekeepers during the quarter. The shortage of housekeepers available was still acute. Reports on the Conference recently held in Wellington, were given by Mrs McWhannell, Mrs Ryburn and Mrs Neill. Mrs Ryburn was congratulated on again being elected to Dominion Advisory Board. Mrs D. Mclntosh reported on mater-r nity services. Members of the Te Awamutu branch provided and served a delightful lunch. A vote of thanks to those members and to the chair concluded the meeting.
