SUCCESSFUL CLEARING SALE, DAIRY COWS TO £l4 15s. Newton King Ltd. report that at a clearing sale of some 200 head of dairy cattle held on behalf of Mr W. Selwynn Germann, of Paterangi, an exceedingly successful clearance resulted. The No. 1 herd of 80 Friesian and Friesian cross cows met with strong competition to £l4 15s, a large proportion of the herd realising double figures, outside buyers accounting for the majority of the Friesian cows. The No. 2 herd, which comprised mainly Jersey cows, sold freely to £l4 ss, all the early calving cattle selling from. £9 to £l3, later calvers £7 10s to £8 15s. Here again a large number of cows brought double figures. The heifers, which although a little small displayed plenty of quality, were keenly competed- for to £ll, other early calving heifers selling from £9 to £lO 10s, later £7 5s to £8 15s. Pigs, implements and sundries sold at late rates.
