Castella del Oro went a fine race at Claudelands, but the only other limit horses to show out lately are Sequoia and Sonja HenioRama Direct and Press Gang from 12 yards behind were placed at Cambridge and Claudelands respectively, and should command respect. Katoomba gained a well-merited victory at his last start, and although 48 yards behind must be considered. The public may prefer Castella del Oro, Sonja Henie, Katoomba.

Hobson Handicap, limit 4.47, two miles: Royal Palm, Sir Echo, and Star Guide have all been racing well. Sir Echo’s fourth at his last start suggesting that he will be hard to head off. True Guide, Davey Day, Langdale, and Tumble were all placed at Claudelands, and Whanako, Cynic, Forest Jewel, Ihi Ihi, and Franco have all proved their worth. In a very open event Tumble, Langdale, and Davey Day man gain support. Adams Memorial Handicap, limit 3.33, 11 miles: Foremost Junior, PopEye, and Worthy Need are southern candidates which have been raced with fair success, and Toceetie, which has recently been under the care of M. Stewart, was considered speedy when competing in the south. Noble Prince showed a return to form at Claudelands, and Our Jewel and Our McKinney have good credentials. Three Bells was third in last year’s event won by Bold Venture. Our Peggy should race well, and may be one of the fittest. Uenuku would be hard ti beat if he returned to form, and Josedale Grattan is undoubtedly one above the average. Josedale Grattan Noble Prince, and Our Peggy may command support.

Stewards’ Handicap, limit 3.41, li miles: Bournemouth, Elliotvale, Frontier Boy, and Nelson Carbine are on the limit, and they have yet to prove their ability. Barney Bingen wa: placed at Claudelands, and Esther and Silver Countess ran good races. Wor thy Treasure gained a place, and Ap pomatox ran prominently in his latest starts. Modest Maid and Silver Watch have shown good form, as has Worthy Belwin. Expensive Lady would only need to step off right to be hard, and Dick Redmond, Modern Lady, Sir Tony, and Vain Lad have all been winning. Patrons may select Worthy Treasure, Silver Countess, Barney Bingen.

Marconi Handicap, 3.38, 15 miles: Katoomba will find the class here much better than in his earlier engagement, but he has shaped like a prominent sort There are several others that have previous engagements, and earlier racing may give an indication of their chances. However, Cam Derby and Peter Travis were placed at Claudelands, and Mitaya ran prominently enough to suggest an early placing. Among th° back-markers De Reske, Nawton Junior, Marcus, and Star Guide have recent form. Cam Derby, Katoomba, and Peter Travis may be among those fancied by investors. Cornwall Handicap, limit 2.53, 11 miles: Albertini has’’ shown promise this season, and Handicapper has begn placed. Peter's Find was unfortunate in his last start, and this should not be a point against him. Bedford should be suited to this distance, and Double Peter’s win and Lynn Rey’s good effort at Claudelands entitle them to respect. Petite Jewel is another that raced prominently at the Waikato, while on the back marks Stargum, Young Parry, Sentiment, Club King, Kete Kura, and Kewpie’s Queen have all been placed recently. Most support may come for Lynn Rey, Petite Jewel, Double Peter.
