QUALITY CATTLE IN DEMAND. TUESDAY’S FRANKTON SALE. Messrs Newton King Limited report that at their Frankton stock sale on Tuesday a medium yarding was penned in the fat cattle section. Quality cattle were in demand, but lighter finished sorts were harder to quit. Light-weight Hereford heifers made £4 17s 8d to £5 ss, medium,-weight Jersey cows £4 5s to £4 19s. ‘Bonef cows were penned in good numbers, prices being firm on late rates, heavy boners making £4 to £4 9s, lighter £3 to £3 15s, boner bulls £6 17s 6d to £8 15s A good yarding of fat sheep and lambs met with keen competition, heavy fat ewes making 14s 9d to 15s 9d, lighter ewes to 14s, heavy fat lambs 22s 6d to 23s 9d, lighter 19s to 21s. In the fat pig section heavy baconers were again keenly sought, but porkers and butter-milk pigs were easier than at late sales. HAMILTON STOCK SALE. At our weekly Frankton stock sale held on Tuesday a small yarding of fat cattle met with spirited competition, prices being in advance of those ruling last week. In the case of cow beef a rise of up to 15s per head was evident. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers up to £9; heavy prime cows and heifers £8 to £8 10s; lighter prime cows and heifers £5 10s to £7 15s; other killable cows £4 10s to £5 ss; heavy vealers £3 to £3 10s; med. do £2 10s to £2 15s; light do 30s to 37s 6d; small do 10s to 17s 6d; bobby calves 7s to Bs. Sheep: A large entry of prime ewes, wethers and lambs were offered and all prices showed a rising tendency in sympathy with the recent ease in hook prices. Heavy prime wethers 25s to 25s 9d; med. prime wethers 22s to ,23s 6d; unfinished wethers 20s to 21s; heavy fat ewes 15s to 16s; med. fat ewes 13s to 14s; unfinished ewes 9s to 12s; fat lambs 25s to 26s 6d; med. 20s to 225; light 17s to 19s 6d. Pigs: Market for fat pigs was firm on late rates, stores were easier. PUTARURU STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report on their Putaruru sale held on Monday, as follows:—An average yarding of cattle came forward and prices realised were easily on a par with recent sales. Fat light weight bullocks £8 19s; fat heifers £6 4s to £7; fat Jersey heifers £4 17s 6d to £5 6s; fat Jersey cows £4 15s to £5 16s; heavy boners £3 12s to £3 19s; medium ditto £2 5s to £3 7s; light ditto £1 to £2 2s; 2-year Jersey heifers r.w.b., £5 10s; smaller ditto £4 8s; potter bulls £6 7s to £7 2s; 2-year fresh conditioned Hereford steers £5 6s. Pigs: A full yarding of both fat and store pigs came forward, prices throughout being on a par with recent sales:—Medium baconers £3 12s to £3 17s; lighter £3 6s to £3 9s; buttermilk pigs £2 18s to £3 ss; heavy porkers £2 Ils to £2 15s; medium ditto £2 5s to £2 10s; light ditto £1 18s to £2 3s; medium store pigs £1 8s to £1 11s; others £1 5s to £1 7s 6d; good weaners 18s to £1 Is; others 10s to 15s. OHINEWAI STOCK SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having held their stock sale at Ohinewai on Monday. There was a good yarding of cattle consisting of mostly store cattle, of which we had a moderate yarding, the balance consisting of the usual fat and boner cattle. Competition was average and although a few pens of store cattle were passed, the balance of the yarding was disposed of at late rates: Heavy fat cows, £6 10s to £7 10s; heavy fat Jersey cows, £5 15s to £6 10s; lighter, £4 12s 6d to £5 7s 6d; heavy boners, £3 10s to £4 ss; others, £2 to £3; potter bulls, £4 to £7 10s, according to weight and condition.
