MOTOR QILS The largest Transport Board in England from extended and large-scale tests found that Solvent-Refined Oils have the following advantages: (a) Mileage obtained from engines was 1 1 per cent, higher. (b) Oil consumption was reduced by 7 per cent. (c) Cylinder wear per 1 000 miles were reduced by 1 3.5 per cent. (d) Proportion of failures of engines due to seizures and bearings was reduced to 60 per cent, less than the normal. (e) Compared with the then standard oil, solvent oil exhibited a slight reduction in suspended carbon, its ash content was 1 5 per cent, lower, whilst the proportion of hard asphalt was reduced by three-quarters.
