TE AWAMUTU POWER BOARD. JANUARY MEETING. Mr J. T. Johnson presided at the monthly meeting on Friday of Te Awamutu Electric Power Board, and there were also present Messrs W. J. North, J. C. Montefiore, N. M. Lethbridge, A L. Storey, J. B. Teasdale, and S. C. B. Macky, Colonel J. Matson (Kawhia district representative), and Mr D. T. B. McArthur (secretary-manager). To Colonel Matson, the secretarymanager gave details of the route of the Pirongia West line, to serve certain settlers on the slopes of Pirongia, including Sainsbury’s Road. Incidentally, this will give improved service to Pirongia township, for the old line has been somewhat overloaded for a considerable time. The secretary-manager reported receipt of advice from the New Zealand agents that ten tons of a larger order for copper wire, on indent, were at present en route to New Zealand from England. To Mr Storey, the secretary-man-ager said the cost of the wire ‘would probably be abdut 30 per cent higher than normal.
’The electricity controller, Mr F. T. M Kissel, advised approval of the erection of 38 chains of 11,000-volt line to supply Kaniwhaniwha quarry in Raglan county.
