DUNCAN— ALLEN FROCK OF SATIN FACONNE A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on Decemljgr 16, when Gertrude Isabel (Toss) younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Allen, Terrace End, was married to William Haywood, elder son of the Hon. J. E. Duncan arid Mrs Duncan, of Wharepuhunga. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Warnock Mrs J. S. Murray presiding < at the organ. The Church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, with Christmas lilies, roses and sweet peas harmonising with the colour scheme of the bride and her maids. The bride entered the church iwith her father, wearing a frock of ivory embossed satin faconne, with fitting bodice and flared skirt ending in a long train. The high neckline was caught with a spray of lilium aiiratum, her tulle veil falling from a topknot of the same flowers. She carried a bouquet of St. Joseph lilies, roses and sweet peas. The bridesmaid’s, Miss Edith Allen, sister of the Ibride, and Miss Gwen Mead, of Hamilton, were frocked alika in mauve taffeta, with fullyflared skirts, the slim-fitting bodices being shirred ir> the centre. They wore short mauve veils, caught on the head with red orchids, and carried bouquets of cherry cacti, gladioli and carnations . Mr Phil. Meiklejohn, of Christchurch, acted as best man and Mr Jack Duncan, brother of the groom, was groomsman. During the signing of the register, Mr J. S. Murray rendered a solo. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Jade Tea Rooms, where the guests' were received by Mrs Allen, mother of the bride, who wore an air-force blue tailored costume with rust straw hat and accessories to tone, and a spray of aut-umn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother wore a figured suede crepe frock, green coat, black Bangkok straw hat and toning accessories. She wore a shoulder spray to match. Mr and Mrs Duncan left by car for the honeymoon, the bride wearing a model frock of painter’s palette, with sunray skirt, teal blue swagger coat and accessories.
