A matter of serious concern is the growing shortage of essentials in farming. Such items as hay-baling wire, piping, nails, and corrugated iron are all becoming difficult to secure. Typical is the case of a farmer who makes much hay. He ordered 6 cwt of baling wire, and his firm had great trouble in getting that amount. Normally there is a good 6 to 12 months’ stock of such lines in New Zealand, the supply being held among importers, warehouses,, and country distributors.
