CONGRATULATIONS. Speaking at the conclusion of the show, Mt Allen, on behalf of the judges of the stock section, said it gave him great pleasure to be present at the Club’s field day. Over a period of six years he and his colleagues had noted a steady improvement in the quality of the stock shown. That day’s function reflected credit on all concerned, and a marked improvement was again apparent on the present occasion. Although all the calves were good, the first and second were outstanding. He congratulated the children on the handling of the stock and expressed the hope that they would take their calves to the show in Te Awamutu. Mir Connell, on behalf of the judges of the Garden Club section, said it was Evident that great attention had been given by the children to the lay-out and work of the garden plots, which were an example to the district. Cultivation and control of weeds were exceptionally good, and a special feature was the number of entries. The present field day compared favourably with any he had attended this year. Morning tea was dispensed by the ladies of the district, who were accorded a vote of thanks, and thus concluded a function that was an undoubted success in all departments — marred only by the weather.
