Two second placings and one third placing were gained by Te Awamutu horses on the final day of the Auckland Racing Club’s Great Northern meeting on Wednesday. Mrs Loomb’s gelding Loombination .maintained his consistent form as a hurdler by running second to Ellanui in the Orakei Hurdles; Mr J. Cavanagh’s Balinavai s defeated all but Valmint in the York Handicap; and Mr M- H. Tims’ Besiege ran a very close third to Aero King and Royal Bachelor in the Visitors’ Handicap. Mrs Loomb occupied third place among the winning owners, her horses Loombination and Erination accounting for £590. Mr J. Sklenars, through Gay Seton’s win on Monday, received £3OO.
