SERGEANT CLIST FAREWELLED. Constables of Taumarunui police district, together with their wives, assembled at the police residene at Taumarunui on Tuesday afternoon to make a presentation and say farewell to Sergeant S. G. Clist, who has been promoted and transferred to Te Awamutu. Afternoon tea was dispensed, after which Constable Bisset called on Mrs McLennan to make Mrs Clist a presentation of a bedroom clock from the wives of the constables. Constable J. Bradford, speaking on behalf of the constables, said they all congratulated Sergeant Clist on his promotion and transfer to Te Awamutu, and wished him the best of health in his new home. He then handed the sergeant an electric jug and an electric iron. All the constables present spoke of the goodfellowship that had existed between the men and the sergeant. Sergeant Clist thanked the constables for their loyal support, and also thanked the coroner (Mr R. W- Thomas) and the justices of the peace for their assistance. The valuable gifts so kindly bestowed upon Mrs Clist and himself would always serve to remind them of the warm friends they had in Taumarunui.
