TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report at their, usual three-weekly Te Awamutu stock sale last Thursday a good yarding which met steady competition from a large bench of buyers. The. majority of the offering was the advertised breeding ewes on /account of Mr L. J. Hastings. Bidding for these sheep was steady, and a total clearance effected at satisfactory prices. A small offering of mutton and killable lambs was absorbed at export values. Cattle: A medium entry of beef, and a good yarding of store and boner cows with bidding on all classes steady and prices in the beef and boner Section firm on late rates. Store cattle were also in good demand and sold at satisfactory prices. Dairy cattle: A full entry, including the advertised lines. The herds spirited bidding from a large bench of buyers. The herd on account of Mr J. W. Wakefield, Roto-o-rangi, averaged £8 13s, but buyers were not so keen on Jersey heifers, the tops of a line of 50 well grown forward Taranaki heifers being passed in at £9. Pigs: A small yarding of both fat and store pigs which met steady bidding, a total clearing in both sections resulting. Porkers, which comprised the friajority of the offering, sold at values on a par with Frankton quotations, whilst a brisk demand existed for good quality store pigs. I HAMILTON STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company L'mited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Frankton stock sale held on Tuesday. Cattle: We had a good yarding of beef and an average yarding of store and boner cattle. Ox beef were rather small but good quality and heifer beef comprised of small and unfinished sorts. Boner cattle sold particularly well, prices being even in advance on last week’s sale. We quote: Small ox beef £8 to £8 9s, plain and unfinished sorts £6 17s 6d to £7 15s; light Hereford fat cows £5 5s to £5 15s, unfinished £4 10s; small unfinished P.A. heifers £4 6s to £5 17s, others £4; runners £2 9s to £2 14s; heavy boners £3 12s 6d to £3 16s; medium boners £3 to £3 ss; light boners £2 to £2 IGb; poorer condition 20-months Hereford and P.A. heifers £3 14s. Sheep: A light yarding of sheep came forward to-day and prices as a result remained very firm with lambs if anything rising in value. An excellent line of fat wethers from Paterangi Estate realised 25s 9d; also on account of H. M. Fleming, good wethers up to 32s 3d. A line of prime fat ewes ex E. D. Smith, realised 19s. We quote: Prime fat wethers 22s 6d to 25s 9d; medium quality 19s 6d to 20s 3d; lighter 18s; prime fat ewes 16s 6d; best quality fat. lambs 19s 3d to £1 Is; second quality 17s 9d to 18s 6d; others 16s; store lambs 4s 3d to 6s. Pigs: A light yarding of fat pigs sold under keen competition, baconers in particular meeting with a brisk demand. Store pigs also came forward in small numbers. Competition was very keen, values showing a sharp rise. Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report having held their usual weekly sale on Tuesday at Frankton saleyards. Sheep: A full yarding of fat sheep. Prices were firm through the early stages for all prime quality sheep, but slackened perceptibly as the sale progressed, especially for unfinished Sheep. We quote: Heavy prime wethers 23s to 255; medium ditto 19s 9d to 22s 6d; light fat wethers 17s 6d to 18s 9d; heavy prime fat ewes 13s to 14s 3d; medium ditto 11s 6d to 12s 9d; light ewes 7s 6d to 9s 6d; heavy prime fat lambs 18s to 225; lighter ditto 16s to 17s 3d: light lambs 13s to 14s. Store lambs and ewes were dull of sale and prices were very slack., good lambs realising 5s 6d to 8s 6d. Other cull lambs 2s 6d to 4s 9d. Cattle a good yarding of all classes of cattle were offered and competition was keen for all sorts. Quality fat bullocks and cows shpwed a definite hardening tendancy, as also did lighter prime quality cattle.
