PLUNKET SOCIETY

KAWHIA SUB-BRANCH. The Kawhia sub branch of the Te Awamutu Plunket Society held the 'the eleventh annual meeting on Thursday afternoon at the residence of the-secretary, Mrs H. Robertson. Mrs R. Ward presided. The balance sheet showed a small credit balance. A good membership had been maintained throughout the year, said the annual report, and this had obviated the necessity of raising funds by other means. In her report the president referred to the great advantage it was to mothers in Kawhia and outlying districts to be able to call on the Plunket nurse on the occasion of her visits to Kawhia. Much help is also given by means of correspondence with the nurse, and by telephone calls. The society tendered thanks to Mr G'oldsbro’ and to Mr Morris, who have acted as auditors; to Mr Mossman for the use of his rooms, and to those members who have accommodated the nurse during her visits. The president also made reference to the good work done by the secretary. The nurse’s report disclosed that fewer visits to the rooms were recorded during the year. This no doubt was dtie to sickness and colds. Nurse McLeod will again visit Kawhia on Tuesday, 13th June, and members are looking forward to seeing her after a year’s absence. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs R. Ward; secretary, Mrs H. Robertson; committee, Mesdames Barker, R. Braine, A. McKenzie, M. P. Goldsbro’.. D. Morris, H. Smith and Miss A. McKenzie. Mrs R. Ward and Mrs D. Morris were appointed as representatives to the Te Awamutu branch. It was decided to hold several functions during the year to augment the society’s funds. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the president.
