During the visit to this district today of the Minister, of, Education, Hon. P. Fraser, opportunity is being availed of to visit the Parawera Native School and the Tokanui Mental Hospital. At each place the Minister is to receive one or two deputations. The Parawera School Committee is asking for assistance in its school grounds improvement schem?. Experiments in the raising of asparagus which are being carried out on the Ahuriri Lagoon area, Napier, under the direction of the Small Farms Board give promise of being outstandingly successful. Ono acre of the lagoon area was planted in asparagus in 1937, and the plants have become firmly established. The first cutting will be made during the voming spring.
