WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
KIO KIO BRANCH. Mrs Luxmore presided at the last monthly Meeting of the Kio Kio branch of the Women’s Institute when there was a large attendance of members and some visitors. Mesdames Purvis and Thompson judged the monthly flower competitions, there being an excellent and very comprehensive array of seasonal blooms. A demonstration of organdie petal flowers was given by Mrs Hall, and the competition of French quilting was keenly contested. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hall and Rae. An instructive and interesting afternoon was enjoyed by all.
OTOROHANGA BRANCH
Mrs A. A. Smith, the president, conducted the proceedings at the Otorohanga Town Hall, when there was a very large attendance. The secretary presented a report of the annual Federation Council Meeting, held at Te Kuiti, earlier in ths Month, and was accorded a vote of thanks for her interesting report. Congratulations were extended to the silcessful member of the branch, who was elected to the executive of the King Country Federation of Women’s Institutes. A “bring and buy’ ; stall will be held at next month’s meeting, and arrangements were finalised for card evenings during the winter months.
Mrs A. Smith won the “bag of sugar” competition-donated by Mrs Williamson, Mrs Church winning the second, and Mrs Webster the third prize.
The treasurer’s report was a very satisfactory one, and the membership of the Branch is steadily increasing, as the population of the district increases in volume.
