A statement to the effect that there was no intention of converting the Waikato aerodrome for military use or of forming a territorial air squadron in the Waikato was made by the Minister of Aviation, the Hon. F. Jones, ih an interview in Hamilton on Wednesday. “The territorial air squadrons are intended for reconnaisance work and are practically all situated near the coast line,” said the Minister. “It would not be suitable for aeroplanes carrying out this important work to be situated in inland towns. l ln a jay case, all aerodromes in the country would be called on to play a part in the military activity of the nation in the ease of an emergency.”
