A sympathetic hearing- was given by the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Housing, to representafions made to him by the Mayor of Te Kuiti, Mr H. T. Morton, on the Liquor licensing question. The Mayor said the present system was doing far more harm than good and asked the Minister if he could do anything in support of a licensing- referendum for the King Country. Mr Armstrong said he was personally sympathetic to the request and realised the necessity for a redistribution of licences in the Doniinion. He -could not -.ee any reason, for licences not being granted at the Waitomo Hostel or at the Chateau, and also in the towns of the King Country.
