A MUSICAL FEAST

VISIT BY ROYAL AUCKLAND CHOIR. TE AWAMUTU FORTUNATE. Only on one occasion during its 40 years’ existence has the Royal Auckland Choir found it possible to give a concert outside the city of Auckland. On Saturday evening, however, this famous combination is responsible for a programme to be submitted in the assembly hall of the Te Awamutu new Intermediate High School. The hall is of beautiful design and construction, and has a seating capacity of 400, and it is steam heated. Hitherto the difficulty of obtaining accommodation for a large choir of this nature has been a restraining factor, but owing to the generosity of the two local hotel owners in placing, between them, some 50 rooms at the disposal of the choir members, this difficulty has been overcome m Te Awamutu, and local residents will have the opportunity of hearing a programme identical with that Submitted to city audiences. In addition to a varied programme of choral selections, items will be rendered by some of Auckland’s leading soloists. Several of the.officials responsible for the erection of the new intermediate school are keen to judge the acoustics of the building as a lecture hall, and with this end in view the chairman, Mr A. J. Sinclair, will give a humorous address during the evening. From our advertising columns it will be observed that, admission is by ticket only; tickets are obtainable at Mr Gifford’s. This is an opportunity of which all local lovers of music should take full advantage.
