Te Awamutu School Committee is convening a meeting of delegates from all country school committees to consider ways and means for the establishment of a technical school in Te Awamutu.

The vestry of St. Jonh’s Church has decided to proceed with the erection of a parish hall. The necessary funds have been arranged for with the Auckland Diocesan Board. Kihikihi’s Rugby football team to play United is to be selected from D. Kay L. Kay, R. Henderson, C. Sutherland, C- Brown, G. Long, C. Clifford, M. Morrow., H. Donkin, Tui Kaka Gus Maunder, Geo. Maunder, W. Porter, W. Thomson, W. Christenson, A. Anderson, W. Wilson, J. Verner T. Holden, F. Moody, and C. Wilson. At Ohaupo stock sale fat cows realised up to £7 15s ? fat steers to £8 2s 6d, heifers in calf £3 17s, good calves to £2 12s, store wethers 13s 6d to 14s 3d, and f.m. ewes in lamb Bs. Te Awamutu Girls’ Club promoted a very largely-attended social, with cards and dancing. Those present represented characters either in history or fiction, and prizes for the highest number correct were won by Mrs R. O. Griffith and H. Lenehan. Prizes for the most original characters were won by Mrs A. J. Bray and Mr T. Stewart.

Several members of Te Awamutu Farmers’ Union have undertaken to carry out experiments with certain crops, under the supervision of Messrs Potts, Mills and Martin. Hairini branch of the Farmers’ Union held its first annual social and reunion, and among the many friends assembled was Mr J. A. Young, M.P , who, after an address on current political problems, was accorded three cheers at the call of the president, MiHall.

Korakonui settlers farewelled the popular school teacher and postmistress Mrs Girven. Mr T. H. Lawry presided at the social, and a very entertaining programme was contributed by the Misses Sturges and May Froggatt, Master Walter Lawry, and Messrs Sturges, T. H. Lawry, Beckerleg and Smith. Mrs Girven was presented with a silver cake-dish. At a concert and dance at Kakepuku enjoyable items were contributed by Messrs W. A. and H. A. Godfrey, of Pirongia. Mr and Miss Dil, of Te Awamutu, and Messrs G. Galloway, Scott, and Davis and the Pirongia Troupe. Dance music was supplied by Misses McLeod (Pirongia) and F. Mandeno (Te Awamutu) and Mr WJohns.
