OUR READERS’ VIEWPOINT. 1 A WARNING TO MOTORISTS. Sir, —Will you please give the enclosed letter space so that it may heln, many motorists from suffering thtj same fate that has befallen me ? the afternoon of Saturday, 30th April my blue Chevrolet sedan car was lef 1 in Victoria Street, Auckland, almoi under the light at the corner of Kit chener Street, at about 5.45 o’clock The car was securely locked and al the windows were closed. 1 visitec the car at about 6.10 p m., and agaii at about 6.50 p.m. The first time did not enter the car, but the seconq time I unlocked the door and pul some fruit in, and re-locked the door I then went to tea, and on my return at about 7.20 or 7.30 p.m., the car wa.‘ gone. It is my opinion that a clevei gang is at work, and from the numbci of cars being stolen they are doing t fine business. The sentences metec out to these car thieves (I beg theii pardon—“car converters”!) is ridi culous, and I consider that the only thing to bring sense to joy-riders is s good application of the birch. Bui the stealing of my car was not th« work of this “ small •fry,” but th< work of a gang of clever and darinj car thieves.
