A start is to be made this month with the building of a new wing for St. Mary’s Convent, in Clyde Street Hamilton East. The present wooden building is one of the oldest in the town, having been erected over 60 years ago, and is proving inadequate. A complete new building in brick is to be constructed on modern lines and will mark the start of a comprehensive building programme. The renovation of the sanctuary of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary will also be started this month. It is stated that alterations will make the church one- of the most beautiful in the province. The contract price for the work is £3147.
