MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on their Morrinsville stock sale, held on Friday:— In all departments, except sheep, which were entered in moderate numbers, the entry was larger than customary. Only a scattering of good quality beef cows, however, were included, most of the heavy entry of cattle being medium and store and boner conditioned, ex dairy cows. The tone of the market was keen and a good bench of both butchers and exporters competed eagerly for supplies. All entered sold. .Pig values too were fully maintained. A small proportion were porkers and baconers, but stores and weaners were in the majority. The demand was good for all classes. Satisfactory rates were secured for sheep. Fat lambs met with a keen sale at Frankton realisations, while fat ewes also were well sought. A small number of store lambs changed hands without noticeable variation from recent quotations. Unfinished light steers £7 10s, good quality fat cows £5 5s to £6, medium do £4 2s 6d to £4 17s 6d, unfinished quality Jersey cows £3 12s 6d to £4, medium cows suitable for exporters £2 15s to £3 10s, reject heavy bulls up to £6 2s fid, boners 38s to £2 12s 6d, heavy fat ewes 21s to 245, others up to 20s, extra prime fat lambs made 30s fid, medium to light 20s to 22s 7d, store 13s 6d to 16s; medium baconers £3 2s to £3 Bs, light £2 12s 6d to £3, good porkers £2 4s to £2 10s, light up to £2.2s 6d, medium store pigs 18s to 21s, small 15s to 17s 6d, slips 12s to 15s, weaners up to Ils.

TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report having held their usual stock sale at Te Awamutu on Thursday, when a medium entry of sheep, consisting chiefly of fat lambs and fat and store ewes came forward. Competition was fairly keen and late quotations maintained. One pen of heavy prime lambs offered on account of Mr W. G. Parker, of Hairini, averaged 33s Bd.

Cattle: A medium entry of first quality beef did not meet a good reception and vendors’ reserves were hard to reach. A heavy yarding of second quality fat cows and boners were penned, and though competition was not as keen as some of the outside sales, a total clearance was effected at satisfactory prices. A small entry of young cattle changed hands at late rates.

Pigs: A good yarding of all classes with a full bench of buyers in attendance. Competition was very keen and a complete clearance effected under the hammer. Fat pigs sold on a par with late rates, while stores and weaners were slightly in advance of Frankton realisations. Quotations:

Sheep: Light fat ewes 18s to 19s, f.c. ewes 16s to 17s 3d, store ewes Ils 3d to 13s 6d, cull ewes 7s Id to Bs, heavy prime lambs to 33s Bd, light fat lambs 23s to 24s 4d, killable 19s lOd to 22s Bd, f.c. lambs to 19s 9d. store lambs 14s lid, cull lambs 9s to IDs 6d.

Cattle: Light prime steers £lO 7s, prime young cows and heifers £7 ss. medium prime fat cows £4 10s to £5 10s, heavy fat Jersey cows £3 5s to £3 17s 6d, medium £2 15s to £3 3s, bonei cows 26s to £2 10s, heavy bulls £5 Is to £6 4s, light £2 17s 6d to £4, Ayrshire cross heifers r.w.b. £5 12s, smaller Jersey cross heifers r.w.b. £3 8s to £3 16s, Shorthorn cross heifer calves £2 Ils, small Jersey cross calves 345.

Pigs: Heavy baconers £3 6s to £3 Ils, medium £3 Is to £3 ss, light £2 14s to £2 19s, heavy porkers and unfinished baconers £2 4s to £2 12s, medium porkers 37s to £2 2s, light 30s to 355, large stores 24s to 28s, medium 17s 6d to 19s 6d, slips 14s to 16s 6d, best weaners 9s 6d to 13s, others 4s to Bs, choppers 37s to £2 14s, sows £2 7s fid to £3 2s 6d, maiden sows to £2.
