TE AWAMUTU POWER BOARD. FEBRUARY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board was held terday, Mir J. G. Sutherland being voted to the: chair in the unavoidable absence of the chairman, Mr J. T. Johnson. Also present were Messrs. Wu J. North, J. B. Teasdale, A. L. Storey,, J. C. Montefiore, and S C Macky. The secretary-manager, Mr L. McArthur, was in attendance. Leave of able absence of the chairman, Mr J. T. Jcihnson, and N. Mt Lethbridge. MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS. The Engineer-in-chief and Undersecretary of the Public Works Department, Wellington, forwarded copies of the declaration adding part of the outer alrea of the: Waitomo Power Board’s district to the outer area of the Te Awamutu Board’s district.. The inspector’s report for the month showed a grand total of 4734, and 2416 extensions, the previous month’s total being added to: by 49 installations and extensions. Comment was made on the increase of £347 14s Id in revenue for lapt De-c'-Anber over the figure for the corresponding month of 1935, notwithstanding the reduced charges for lighting, heating,, cooiking and power in the interim. In his monthly report the works foreman showed that trees that w:ere a hazard to lines were trimmed in the Te Rahn, Te Rore and Piringia districts. DISTRIBUTION OF COSTS. The secretary-manager tabled the following interesting figures to show the distribution of each £1 o.f revenue: Bulk powqr 7s 9d, capital charges (interest and sinking fund) 7s sd, cost of distribution and sei-vice generally 2s sd, office and salaries 9d, other administration charges (including superannuation) Is 3d, and depreciation and new work sd; total 20 s. Members expressed keen interest in these figures, and it was remarked that Te Awamutu’s figures must compare very favourably with those of other Boards, One member remarked that another power board in South Auckland had recently published the following figures, which might be compared witn Te Awamutu: Bulk power 7s Bd, capital charges 7s 7d, cost of distribution 2s 7dj office salaries 9d, cither administrative charges Is 2d, depreciation and new work 3d. He added that hej would like to see the figures of other power boards, and was confident that none could beat Te Awamutu. HONIKIWI DISTRICT. Gratification wa,S' expressed that the outer-area of the Waitomo Board’s territory towards Honikiwi had been transferred to Te Awamutu Board. Mr Mackv remarked that the settlers in that locality would be expecting supply at the earliest possible date. , i ■ . | ; The secretary - manager said the Board’s staff would be fully occupied for some weeks in reticulating the Harapepe district, and thd.n the Kawhia Road area near Mr Fear’s property should be attended to. However, there would be no avoidable delay in serving the Honikiwi district. There was need to obtain signatures of settlers debiring to participate in the Board’s services, before reticulation could proceed.
