BOWLING
OHAUPO CLUB’S OPENING. The, official opening of the new bowling green at Ohaupo last Saturday afternoon saw a big muster of bowlers from most of the adjoining clubs. Mr P. H. Rowe, president of the South Auckland Centre, performed the opening ceremony; the club president, Mr R. Forsyth, welcomed the visitors, and Mr D. Stewart Reid, of Ngahinapouri, also spoke, congratulating the club upon its successful establishment and wishing it continued success. Mr Rowe said Ohaupo Bowling Club was a new institution, but it was starting off under very favourable auspices, for it had a splendid membership, a welllaid green in a handy location, and every prospect for the future. Mr Forsyth apologised for the unavoidable absecne of the HSn. W. Lee Martin, (through indisposition), Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, and the Otorohanga Club’s representatives. Play continued for a couple of hours, when rain caused acessation. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the ladies of Ohaupo.
