THE ‘RED LAMP.” “Fatigue is the red light which shows that more effort is being expended than the irgonism can stand,” says Dr G. H. Miles. “Imagine what the average foreman would say if a worker told him that he was experimenting to try to find the easiest way of doing a job. As a consequence, many new Operations are being carried out with an almost unbelieveable amount of misdirected effort. Clothing and food are as important to the managing director as to the worker. Men are seldom suitably clothed for their job, but women as a general rule are much more appropriately dressed. Many workers when they reach the factory, instead of putting on lighter clothing, don overalls over their trousers. Workers should have properly designed clothing for their work, and this is a matter which may well be investigated.”
