WOMEN’S DIVISION
SOUTH AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL • MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the South Auckland provincial of the Women’s Division ot the Farmers’ Union was held in the Parish Hall, Te Awamutu, on Thursday, Mrs F. j. Ryburn presiding over a good attendance. After the repeating ot the creed sympathy was expressed with all who had suffered bereavement. A welcome was accorded Dr de la Mare, of Hamilton, who during the afternoon addressed the meeting. Welcomes were also extended to delegates from the following branches: Cambridge, Ngaroma, Ohaupc, Te Awamutu, Korakonui and Ngahina pouri. Apologies were received from Mesdames Thomas (provincial secretary) and Leaning. Correspondence was dealt with and a good deal of business was attended to. The housekeeping and delegates’ branch reports revealed many progressive- activities, and showed that the housekeeping department was still maintaining its work of usefulness, many more housekeepers being registered and all giving satisfaction. The president expressed appreciation ot the work done by the branches as regards the increase in membership, and the liberal donations to the community chest funds. A committee was formed to arrange for a special provincial effort to raise funds for the community chest, and the proposal was to hold a field day in February. Mrs Mclntosh, as the delegate for the South Auckland provincial and in the interests of the Women’s Division, reported on a recent combined meeting of women’s organisations in Auckland. Mrs Mclntosh and Dr de la Mare were accorded votes of appreciation for their instructive addresses. r The meeting appointed Mrs F. J. Ryburn to attend the Dominion meeting to be held at Nelson in January of next year. The delegates from the Te Awamutu branch provided afternoon tea.
