N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION
KING COUNTRY EXECUTIVE MEETS. Thera was a representative attendance at the meeting of the King Country Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, at Otorohanga, when Mr V. W. Simms (Otewa) presided. The. question of compulsory membership was considered. Some contended that_ 20,000 members believed in the Union, while on the other hand the non-unionists benefited by their activities and "■lid nothing towards the support of the Union. Under compulsion all would pay their dues and a powerful Union would, result. A remit, along the lines of compulsion was forwarded to the Auckland Executive for consideration. Various remits from King Country branches were considered and many of these will be considered by the Auckland Executive.
