ALEXANDRA RACING CLUB. There are not many racing clubs in the Dominion with a record equalling that of the Alexandra Racing Club, which has held a race meeting annually for the past seventy-one years. The club races at Pirongia each Boxing Day. and the principal officers for the seventy-second meeting have been appointed as follows: President, Mr Fred Potts; handicapper, Mr A. A. Reese; starter, Mr J. C. Potts; assistant starter, Mr S. B. Sifleet; clerk of scales, Mr Tom Steel; advisory steward, Mr W. Perrin; stewards, Messrs J. L. Macky, G. H. Barry, S. B. Sifleet, W. M. Chappell, R. J. Graham, J. Livingstone and S. Ormsby; clerk of course, Mr E. Beet; veterinarian, Mr V. Priest; timekeepers, Messrs A. Sutherland and W. Perrin; secretary, Mr A. Chappell. Some of these official; have been closely associated with the club continuously for nearly half-a-century.

The programme for the meeting, which is a non-totalisator one, comprises six ewents on the flat and one over hurdles. The Alexandra Cup stake of 25 sovs. has a canteen of cutlery valued at lOgrs as a trophy. Owners of horses that are probabb’ not quite good enough to compete successfully at the totalisator meetings during the holiday season, have on several occasions led in winners at Pirongia., and the meeting is regarded as a very popular “picnic” one.
