The engagement is announced between Marjorie E. younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Morrow, of Kihikihi, and Euan James Morrison, of Te Awamutu. Mrs SeJwyn Wood, of Pirongia, has returned from a visit to Auckland, where she was the guest of Dr and Mrs Usher, Herne Bay. Mrs Flower, of Wellington, who has been staying with Miss Empson, Mangapiko Street, leaves to-morrow for Auckland. Mr Walter McGill, of Te Awamutu, leaves to-day to spend several weeks in the Rotorua district, in the hope of recuperating his health, which has been indifferent for some time past. Mr J. C. Montefiore and Miss B. M-ontefiore left for’ Christchurch on Monday evening. Miss Montefiore intends to spend several weeks in North Canterbury before returning home. • Mir Harold Davis, of Christchurch, is visiting the Auckland province, and is at present staying with his nephew, Mr L. A. Johnston, Mutu Street. Mr Davis plans to proceed to North Auckland, as far as the Bay of Islands and Hokianga, before returning to Christchurch next month. A Christchurch message states that at yesterday's meeting of the Dominion council of the Plunket Society the resignation of Mrs Joseph McGeorge, Dominion president, was accepted with regret. Lady Sidey was elected Dominion president until the next half-yearly meeting of the Dominion council in March. Mrs James Begg was elected vice-president of the Dominion council. The noted New Zealand athlete, Mr “Jack” Lovelock, who has just returned from England, fresh with his laurels of the Olympic Games, was a visitor to Waikeria Borstal Institution on Monday afternoon, Paving motored through from Hamilton, where he had been accorded a rousing welcome. Mr Lovelock, while at Hamilton, visited the Hamilton High School, where 600 secondary pupils accorded him an ovation, and he also found time to visit Waikato Hospital, where again he was warmly welcomed. Both at Hamilton and Waikeria he delivered chatty addresses, and was heartily thanked.
