TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on their Te Awamutu stock sale, held on Thursday: Fat cattle: Medium numbers of heavy cows, heifers and bullocks came forward, while very heavy supplies of plain fats, young Jersey store cows, aged and rough reject cows and honors were handled. Butchers, many from outside districts, were present in large numbers, and were operating keenly for supplies. Prices were fully equal to the best of recent quotations. A feature of the sale was the animated reception accorded young Jersey cows which were up sharply. Stores and boners too maintained stable values. The advertised yearling Jersey heifers were mostly of medium class and sold well under keen demand, with a good clearance thereof being effected. A number of bulls changed hands freely, potters increasing. Dairy stock: These met with an even keener demand than was anticipated. The entry comprised medium class animals and about, even supplies of cows and of heifers. All were transferred readily at pleasing prices to sellers. Good Jersey dairy cows in milk £6 5s to £8 10s, medium class do £5 to £6 ss, medium to good conditioned dairy heifers £6 15s to £B, plainer do £5 to £6 10s, inferior £4 to £5. Sheep: Sup plies of all classes were moderate but representative. Fat and forward hoggets predominated. There was a spirited demand and prices compared favourably with those ruling at Frankton this week. All entered sold read ily. Heavy shorn wethers 27s 6d to 295, medium fat. do 25s to 265, unfinished and light 22s to 24s 6d, prime woolly fat hoggets 31s to 33s sd, me diuni fat ewes 17s to 20s, aged and light up to 16s, forward conditioned shorn hoggets 19s to 22s 6d. medium ewe store hoggets 32s to 36s 3d. Pigs: A capacity yarding was again dealt with. Light baconers and heavy porkers accounted for the greater part of the entry of fats. As noticeable as at other recent sales, a slight easing tendency was evident, but there was a strong demand at the fractionally reduced standard. Good store pigs maintained their popularity, but weaners decreased decidedly. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having hald their weekly sale at Miorrinsville on Friday, when an average yarding of cattle were penned. Practically no heavy quality cattle were included in the entry which comprised mostly light to medium fat Jersey cows. Competition throughout was good and a total clearance was effected. Fresh condition young cows also mat with a rdady sale. Dairy cattle wtre only penned in small numbers, no doubt dur. mainly to the lateness of the season. Medium weight fat Jersey cows £4 15s to £5 4s, lighter fat Jersey cows £4 2s to £4 12s, fat Jersey heifers £4 2s to £4 19s, second quality fat Jersey cows £3 10s to £3 15s, lighter killable Jersey cows £3 to £3 Bs, forward fresh conditioned young Jersey cows £2 14s to £2 17s, others £2 7s to £2 11s, heavy boner cows £2 Is to £2 6s, others according to size and weight £1 Ils to £1 18s, cuil bonier cows £1 'to £1 Bs, light condition sound young Jersey cows and heifers £2 14s, medium quality yearling Jersey heifers £3 10s to £4 ss, small and inferior sorts £1 Ils to £1 19s, sound rising 2-year Jersey service bulls £7 to £9 10s, others £5 5s to £5 15s, good springing Jersey heifers (late calvers) £5 10s to £5 15s. Pigs: The yarding of pigs consisted mainly of good quality baconers which met with keen demand, while stores and slips sold at late rates. A total clearance was effected. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd, Dunedin, report as follows: —There was a small offering at Tuesday’s Sale, the quality of the winter grades being generally inferior. There was very littli buying for overseas orders, the demand being mostly speculative, and prices for all winter grades were on an average 12d per lb. lower. Summers, milky, etc. showed little change.
