Accounts presented and passed for payment at Monday’s meeting of the Waipa County Council totalled £5843 6s 7d. The principal payments were to the contractor for the FranktonWhatawhata main highway improvement work. The Waipa County Council on Monday received a letter from the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, in reply to representations to have portion of St. Leger Road and the branch road metalled to provide an all-weather access for the settlers, saying that he had carefully noted the information accompanying the request. He said he would be pleased to look into the matter and communicate with the Council as early as possible.
