REGENT THEATRE. AGAIN TO-NIGHT. “WOMAN TRAP." Drama of engrossing quality is ths order of the day at the Regent Theatre, whore Paramount’s “Woman Trap" opened yesterday, with an excellent cast of players. As its name 'lmplies, this thriller has for central idea the sinister use of an innocent woman to assist a gang of desperadoes, killers from the States, to blaze a way to freedom and elude the law. •■Woman Trap” bristles with adventure, bustles with action, bursts with drama that makes you sit on the edge of your seat. The story has swiftness of pace and a wealth of situations. Aeroplanes, motor boats and sure footed horses further the brisk plot which starts with a spine chilling crime and moves to a startling finale in the desert, when the desperadoes, who have used cunning with startling success, fall into a ridiculous trap. SATURDAY AND MONDAY. “ QUEEN OF HEARTS.” The whole world has been waiting for Gracie Fields to make a picture such as “ Queen of Hearts.” Now, at long last, they’ve given the famous comedienne a story and a comedv director in keeping with her remarkable entertainment talents, and Gracie has made a picture that will delight audiences everywhere, and definitely establish her in her rightful place among the great favourites of the screen. “ Queen of Hearts,” the surprise picture of the year, is full of pleasant surprises for all, not the least of which is Gracie’s new screen “ face,” completed with a new style of hairdressing and new creations, all of which combine to transform the popular artist into one of the most beautiful stars on the screen to-day. Another "highlight of “ Queen of Hearts ” is the now famous apache dance, “ The Dance of Death,” performed by Gracie and Merton, the celebrated apache dancer. What a dance ! Prepare yourself for the laugh of your life when you see -it. Honestly, it’s the funniest sequence ever filmed, and you’ll roll in your seats helpless with laughter.

EMPIRE THEATRE. “THE BREVITIES.” AGAIN TO-NIGHT, SATURDAY AND MONDAY. Probably because there was such a large attendance at the band concert the previous evening, the “Brevities" Vaudeville and Revue Company’s entertainment at. the Empire Theatre last evening did not attract the expected good house—but there are hopes for a larger patronage this evening. The entertainment was an exceedingly varied programme, ranging from startling acrobatic dancing and tumbling to broad comedy—some ci the latter, as the saying goes, “full 36 inches wide.” The specialty numbers created keen interest and the applause was certainly well merited, for seldom has a Te Awamutu audience seen such clever turns on the stage. The dancing was of a high standard, and the acrobatics and balancing artistic and astonishing. Brief sketches were interspersed throughout the programme, and it was noteworthy that a programme of approximately forty items was presented in 21 hours, the stage managing being exceptional. It was computed that intervals between items averaged only twelve seconds. Owing to the high class of entertainment offered, the management lias decided to play an extended season of two nights, Saturday and Monday next, when a complete change of programme will be presented.
