WHAT WAR MEANS
CAN IT BE STOPPED ? “I want to see a conference held at which every representative of every nation shall have present before him what war really means. I am not sure that it would not be a good thing for them to sit for a. time in gasmasks amid a roar of exploding bombs and continuous noise of aeroplanes overhead,” writes Mr C. R. Attlee, Leader of the Labour Party, in the “Daily Herald-” “Let them go and visit the homes of humble people and come together to discuss how to deal with the causes of war. Better still, instead of thinking of the causes of war, lot them take counsel how to lay the foundations of peace on a sure basis of social justice. There is time yet to save the world if only ordinary men and women will rouse themselves to action.
